There are three entrances into Everglades National Park which all lead to different areas.
The north entrance is off Tamiami Trail ( S.W. 8th Street), it's called the Shark Valley
entrance.  There's a 15 mile loop which goes 7 miles into the heart of the everglades.  Here you can see aligators sunning themselves on the road.  The south entrance is just West of Holmstead and there is a 38 mile road which leads to a small town called Flamingo.  The west entrance is off
highway 29 near Everglades City and leads to a town called Chokoloskee.
All three are somewhat different and are worth spending a day at each.
